Roald Dahl, a genius in creating disgusting and ugly character subtle enough to be accepted by children and adults. Mrs Twit one of his most successful characters created was described as someone very ugly. In a story meant for kids, it’s inappropriate to comment people as ugly but he made it possible in a clever way. How did he do it? Well, Mrs Twit was once a very beautiful person. She turned ugly as she grew older due to her thoughts. She always harbor ugly thoughts thus affecting her looks. This is a very good example for parents to teach their kids that one shouldn’t harbor ugly thoughts and should always be nice to people around.
Mrs Twit has a glass eye that’s always not in place in her eye socket and sometimes she would take it out to scare Mr Twit. This is disgusting for most people but not for me. I find it amusing. Though most of the time she’s playing pranks on Mr Twit, it might be a way to show their love being who they are. I came to this conclusion cause I’m the kind of person where I like to tease people and that only applies to those who are close to me and those I give a damn about. I won’t bother wasting my time on someone insignificant to me.
Mrs Twit carries a walking stick where she states that it’s to aid her in walking as her left foot is infected with warts, which is actually a façade. Truth is, she uses it to cane her pet monkeys and her husband when they don’t listen to her. She’s demanding and fake in that sense. That’s the scary part, she may be smiling right in front of you but she might be plotting something back in her head. That’s happening everywhere, even in school. I don’t understand the need of it playing politics in school. Ain’t it a place to learn?
Mrs Twit is a very good portrait of people that are devious. They are like rotten apples. You can’t see how dirty and ugly inside cause they kept it in so well inside them. Well, in this case Mrs Twit’s look got affected by the nasty thoughts of hers.
In all, Mrs Twit is there to remind us that there are actually people like this around us and we should be wary of them. This world is not as beautiful as we think.
